Friday Find - Poss Bloss

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Now here’s something for the kids. As I have a little man starting school next year, this site especially caught my eye. Poss Bloss is the creation of Jodie, a business mum from Melbourne. She has a fantastic range of handmade goodies for kids.

One of the things that caught my eye is the Hand Print Art Smock. I have added this to the Christmas list for my little man starting school next year. She also has a fantastic range of library and swimming bags.

Jodie also has bibs for the little ones and aprons for those a bit older. A great shop for Christmas shopping.

Wednesday Wisdom - Challenges

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

On Monday, I went to a workshop on goals presented by Tash Hughes of Word Constructions. During the talk, she read out a definition of challenges:

Challenge: Interesting difficulties

I love this definition of a challenge. Having something that’s interesting makes it more fun to do! And this definition makes it seem like challenges aren’t hard, they aren’t scary, they are interesting and something fun to do.

For me, much of business and business growth is changing my mindset. By seeing challenges as interesting difficulties rather than something to be dreaded and avoided is something that will help my business grow.

Friday Find - S.O.H. Sleepy Baby Bouquets

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Babies are often hard people to buy for, especially at Christmas. Many of us feel that baby shouldn’t miss out, even though he or she is often way too young to even play with the wrapping! Practical gifts are often best, especially something that Mum can enjoy first.

This is where S.O.H. Sleepy Baby Bouquets comes in. They have a stunning range of bouquets for every occasion and make a fantastic Christmas present for a new baby, as well as a baby gift (I wish Katrina had been around when my babies were born!). Each gift is practical and beautifully presented as either a bouquet or box of flowers. Each flower is made up of socks, singlets and other baby accessories.

Wednesday Wisdom - Going my way?

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

When I was a teenager, I had a poster on my wall that said:

“Everything’s going my way, am I heading in the wrong direction?”

This may seem like a strange quote for Wednesday Wisdom, however I know this is how I often feel. Every now and again, despite of, or maybe because of, my best efforts, things seem to fall in to place. Often this can happen when I’m feeling down about business or completely stressed out and I have a break. Often I’ll ring a friend and ask them what I’ve done differently to get these orders or the new advertiser that’s just come through, or whatever.

I know it’s not that I’m going in the wrong direction - everyone else is!

Feedback from Monique - a May Madness subscriber

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

We received some fantastic feedback from Monique, one of the lucky participants in our May Madness promotion:

I was fortunate enough to receive one of the free “May Madness” Subscriptions.  I have now signed up for a two year subscription to “Business Mum’s Magazine” as I have found the articles and advertisements to be very informative for me starting a new company and website business.  Along with the subscription I have received free the e-book “Customer Service” as well as the book “Quick Dirty Guide to Market Research“.  I have read them both and got some great hints from them already!  I am looking forward to continuing my subscription and my association with Business Mums.  Thank you Melissa!

Wednesday Wisdom - Moon and Stars

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Here’s another short and sweet quote for the week. This one has been said to me by so many different people, I don’t know who said it first…

“Reach for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”

This one tells me to aim high. I may not reach my exact goals, however there is a good chance I’ll get close. It’s also another quote that tells me to get off my butt and aim for something! It’s also better to aim high (for the moon) rather than have tiny dreams.

So, in your business, aim high, aim for the moon. Even if you don’t quite get there, you’ll land in the stars.
